Bingo Winners - Mum of Two World's Highest Bingo Winner

A MOTHER-OF-TWO has won what bingo bosses yesterday claimed was the game's biggest ever worldwide jackpot of £1.1m. Christine Bradfield said she went "absolutely crazy" when her lucky numbers came up at her local bingo hall in Merthyr Tydfil. But in true jackpot-winner fashion Mrs Bradfield, 53, a garage forecourt shop assistant has nevertheless pledged not to give up her work, saying she would spend the fortune shopping every day. And she will be giving away half her massive win to her sister-in-law - because they always share any winnings. Mrs Bradfield last night described how she was in a "state of shock" when she phoned her husband Ray, a crane driver, to tell him she had won £1,101,686 at bingo. The grandmother, who lives in Bargoed, near Caerphilly, said, "I found it hard to find the words - it is just incredible. "I love playing bingo and have been playing it since I was 18. I've had a few nice wins over the years but nothing anywhere near this. "I couldn't believe it when they told me it was believed to be the biggest in the world. We didn't sleep all night but Ray had to go to work in the morning. "I work three days a week in a garage and luckily I don't have to be in until Wednesday - but I'll be there then as usual. I won't be giving up work. I couldn't be at home or I'd be out shopping all the time spending the money." Mrs Bradfield has two children, Nicola, 29, and Gavin, 31, and three grandchildren Louise, 12, Daniel, eight, and Tammy, four. She plays bingo twice a week at the Castle Bingo Hall in Merthyr, where she has been a regular for 11 years. She was taking part in the National Bingo Game on Sunday night, which links up with other bingo halls throughout Britain, when she became its first platinum jackpot winner. "All together we only spent about £16 for all the tickets on the night," she said. "But my husband does complain how much I spend on the bingo. He's not complaining now though." Despite winning £1.1m - a jackpot to rival some of the recent Lotto wins in Wales - and becoming a millionaire overnight, Christine has said she intends to carry on playing bingo. "I have been playing since I was old enough at 18 and I won't stop now," she said. Mr and Mrs Bradfield plan to spend the money on "thoroughly spoiling" their grandchildren and dream holidays. But they have no immediate plans to leave their terraced home. "I'm not going to rush spending the money. Just a few shopping trips and think about the future," said Mrs Bradfield. "We have worked hard all our lives and deserve a few luxuries." Mr Bradfield, 54, added, "We've been married for 36 years. We don't tend to argue but I did always whinge at her for going to the bingo. "I would say, 'Ah, what are you wasting your money on that for?'" But, unlike his wife, he said the win may change his life. "I've told my crane driving firm that I might give up work but I don't know yet," he said. "I've worked hard my entire life. It would be weird not working - I don't know what I would do with myself." Mike Wiltshire, general manager of Castle Bingo in Merthyr, was calling the game which made Christine a millionaire. He said, "The place erupted. everyone went wild. It was amazing. "Word spread quickly so that most people in the town knew before the end of the evening. "We are delighted for Christine and hope she thoroughly enjoys her win." And Paul Talboys, the National Game's chief executive, said, "What a wonderful night for bingo. We know it is the biggest bingo win ever in this country but believe it to be the biggest in the world. It is just the boost we needed in these difficult times." The National Bingo Game is the UK's second largest computer-controlled game, after the National Lottery. It is played in about 500 licensed bingo clubs which link up to play twice a day every day of the year, except Christmas Day. Mrs Bradfield's jackpot win was made up of the platinum jackpot prize of £1,018,233, the Sunday night National Game prize of £80,000, the zone prize of £3,121 and the club prize of £335.

Bingo Awareds - Online Bingo Oscar Awards

January 2008 brings a New Year, and new hope for all lovers of the fascinating world of online bingo. Two online bingo sites were fortunate enough to start 2008 on a high note as they swept the Bingo Oscar awards away from a whole list of other online bingo sites. As reported end of 2007, WhichBingo.com hosted the popular competition for the 'UK Online Bingo Site of the Year', and the 'UK New Online Bingo Site of the Year'. The votes of all the online bingo players have been counted, and the winners have been announced by the online bingo guide WhichBingo.com. The site that won the 'UK Online Bingo Site of the Year' is Think Bingo. This award is quite an achievement for the staff and players of Think Bingo, as this online bingo site is relatively new. Think Bingo emerged a mere three years ago and the success they have achieved in such a short period of time is astonishing. The second competition's aim was to award the site which, according to players, is the best "UK New Online Bingo Site of the Year'. The winner of this award is Gone Bingo UK with BingoSKY UK just behind them. Awards like these are popular in the industry as they provide well-deserved exposure and recognition to online bingo sites. Congratulations to both Think Bingo and Gone Bingo UK.

Ladies looking for a "fun, safe and friendly" UK bingo website might like to try recently launched 888ladies. The site is promising £10 of free gaming credit on sign-up, with no deposit required, to allow its new members to sample the experience. With chat accompanying each game, a community feel is on the cards as, 888 ladies says, "bingo is much more fun when you play it with friends". Daily contests on the site include the coverall game which sees the money up for grabs reduced if nobody reaches a full house in 40 balls. But on Tuesdays in the 22:00 game, filling a card in between 25 and 40 calls could see one player claim £888,888. In the hour between 21:00 and 22:00 each night, anyone reaching bingo on the specified 'money ball' will also see their winnings doubled, 888ladies advises. Written by Bob Bardsley. Online Bingo

Bingo Jackpot - Biggest Ever' Bingo Jackpot Won

A grandmother has become a millionaire after scooping what is claimed to be the world's biggest bingo win. Christine Bradfield, from Bargoed in Caerphilly county, won more than £1.1m at The Castle Club in Merthyr Tydfil. The 53-year-old won the National Bingo Game's platinum prize at the Sunday night session at the club. The jackpot played in 470 clubs across the UK is the biggest in Britain and it is thought to be the biggest anywhere in the world say its organisers. "At this time we certainly believe Christine's win is the biggest win a legitimate game of bingo in the world," said Steve Baldwin, communications manager for the National Bingo Game. The Castle Club in Merthyr went "absolutely crazy" when Mrs Bradfield's win was announced on Sunday night. The club's general manager Mike Wiltshire was calling the game that made her a millionaire. "The place erupted, everyone went wild," he said. "It was amazing. And word spread quickly so that most people in Merthyr knew before the end of the evening." Mrs Bradfield herself said she was "in shock" and so was her crane driver husband Ray when she phoned him with news of her win. She said: "We won't sleep tonight but he has to go to work in the morning." But she plans to share her £1.1m prize with her sister-in-law Lorraine Williams, who is from Aberbargoed, and her giant win on the bingo does not signal a life of leisure, she said. Shopping "I work three days a week in a garage and luckily I don't have to be in until Wednesday, but I'll be there then," she said. "I won't be giving up work. I couldn't be at home or I'd be out shopping all the time." And she said she will not be giving up bingo either. "I just love the game," she said. "I have been playing since I was old enough at 18 and I won't stop now." She said she could not repeat what her son and daughter said when she phoned them with the news and said she will use the money to spoil her three grandchildren. Christine joined the Castle Club when it opened 11 years ago and plays there twice a week. Her prize-money, totalling £1,101,686 was made up of the Platinum Jackpot prize of £1,018,233; the Sunday night National Game prize of £80,000, the Zone prize of £3,121 and the Club prize of £335.
